Bonds.

A person is stronger when they have some sort of bond or connection to another person. They are relied on, questioned when upset or angry and often used as comfort in a stressed situation. A bond can cause great things to happen even if most of the decisions can be sometimes foolish or selfish. Blondies don't naturally form these Bonds with anyone and to Iason that was no exception. A person was valued to him on how useful they could be and how much worth he could get out of them. Strength was pure physical motion and the strength and value of a person, including himself, was only measured by how far ahead one could play the game of life over another person.

When Katze had left he had a deep resentment for the man. His return here would mean his death at his own hands if the redhead ever woke again. He could not understand why a loyal servant could choose to return to sleep and live in a world where he was treated far less than Iason had begun to treat him and those here that persisted in treating him as a normal person. Perhaps it was the normality the other craved just as much as the Blondie did. Being outcast from the normal means he had Ascended to Angelii shortly after the bear Deva had been put in his place. He had done it for the city and for his own sake but mostly to keep the foundation he was already building within Nautilus alive.

Except now he had begun to change his way of thinking and perception of others. Quick to judge, it had never been his strong suit to take a step back and examine what caused a situation over how he could eliminate it entirely in the most efficient manner. Finding himself on the outside of most politics and in the common section of the population Iason had more time to examine the people that filled the city day by day. It was then that his observation habits picked up from the amount that flooded in to the amount that strayed from certain sectors.

Lelouch had been one of the only people Iason felt he could put his trust in besides the Deva Calex. The other had a like mind and a brilliant strategic placement upon everything he did. When it was his time to journey away from Nautilus Iason was distraught at losing what little reliance he had in the city. Normally he would've demanded the other stayed or given him no choice in the matter by blackmailing or assessing the situation in a way that stopped him from leaving but Iason had started to realize that Lelouch meant more to him than simply a tool he could use. He had allowed the other to leave but even then that wasn't true. The truth was that Iason had no choice in the matter and his hands were tied to how he felt actual respect for the man he had come to know as more than simply what he was.

Lucas was useful even if his habits were annoying and for a while he was used as a distraction to forget that Lelouch had left. A simple gesture of kindness from Lucas prompted him to explore what he could benefit from it. When Iason was tired and exhausted the other man persisted even when Iason had become useless on more than one occasion. Over time he begun to acknowledged the other as more than simply a substitution and with him came others he started to trust and respect. He was essentially the gateway to much more than Calex had already taught him. Strange how annoyances seemed to pick at Iason's inner person more than he ever wanted them to.

Then one day Iason made a decision to bond with someone else and while usually an Ashura picks their Angelii Iason had already made a decision to approach Lucas. Asking in his usual polite yet impolite manner he gave his trust to Lucas and allowed him to form a Bond with him. Blondies don't form bonds, trust, or allow others to ever view their inner being. It's because Blondies don't normally have any urges to be around others nor to even want anything but completion of tasks or problems. To feel was a weakness and to let others see a Blondie even with what little emotions they may have was to let anyone see a weakness in general. Something to be used against himself was what he never wanted.

Lucas now knew his quirks, his weaknesses and over time his faults and moves. He could anticipate everything if he wanted to but for once Iason didn't feel so exposed. When the idiot got himself captured he felt legitimate worry or as worried as a Blondie could be. He put aside logic and reasoning in order to save him regardless of the groups already making their way into AM's hidden lair. Bonds can make a person foolish or stubborn and Iason was becoming one of those people swayed by such selfish decisions.

Iason's greatest bit of change was Nautilus itself. After the bear Deva had been cast out he had seen the city as his only choice of living now that he was dead in his home world and he protected it with that intention to keep it intact. Over the months that followed he had started to protect it for the sake of wanting it to exist and eventually prosper.

A problem he thought fixed only came back to haunt the city as traces of the bear Deva's pawprints were still at large. A disease or poison as some called it was starting to take down each Wakened and Iason himself was soon feeling the side effects of the infection. Nautilus had purged all of that with great effort and strain. On 'Christmas' when everyone was celebrating and enjoying each others' company Iason spent the night with Nautilus mostly alone near the Heart. He was grateful and felt at least someone should be as close as possible to the Aeon that night. Not to mention he was worried what the one being that he could consider a father figure or a guardian was feeling that night. Worn and tired for sure, he wanted to be there in case anything further happened. A weak Aeon was likely vulnerable and day after day when he watched over the other each night out in the cold his assumption had been right.

Seeing vines and thorns covering Nautilus' heart enraged Iason and he hadn't felt such a way in a long time. Not since his arrival in Nautilus when he had been taken from perhaps the one person he had felt such rage over, Iason lashed out at the creatures escaping into the city and with uninhibited hate and focus he UnMade every one of them without hesitation. By the end of the ordeal Iason had nearly succumbed to the infection from overextending his energy in order to save Nautilus and its people. It would take several weeks to even feel like himself again enough to venture out into the city but the weeks it took to recover even Iason had realized his foolish errors in nearly getting himself killed for the sake of another. He could already feel that sense of changing and over calculating. It disturbed him but he refused to be hindered by it.

A bond is a weakness and a bond can get someone killed but these were the bonds that Iason wanted to keep even if it resulted in his eventual permanent death.

Iason Mink...

The very name in Amoi sent shudders down the spine of mongrels and admiration in the hearts of Jupiter's citizens. Crossing or disrespecting a Blondie on Amoi meant punishment or death but crossing Iason Mink himself meant a long and brutal death. Being the role model of Tanagura, the eye of the public and Jupiter's golden chosen one he had a heavy weight upon his shoulders. Every rule was obeyed, every call from Jupiter or case was assigned and taken care of swiftly. To Amoi Iason idolized perfection in every towering inch of him. Over the years he had grown from being just a Blondie to a well established and high figurehead. There was no one with more power than him but Jupiter herself. With his cunning and almost sadistically intelligent mind if he wanted something it would soon be his. Iason Mink had everything he ever wanted at his fingertips.

That is until Nautilus called and Iason answered.

His reaction at first was basic for a Blondie. Anger and rage fueled his only thought. How dare someone take him from something that he had built, created and maintained to perfection? His first post was one of need and full of demanding attention. He wanted answers. Even with Katze and his broken arm of Iason's own doing standing behind him he stood as a man that was entitled to everything. It brought about the usual rabble of people from those that he would later come to consider mongrels in protest and one who he would admire greatly in the future.

Accepting that he was the one that was responsible for his coming to Nautilus came to him easier than the concept of bending. It wasn't that he was incapable or didn't have the will power to do so. It was the mere fact that he was a Blondie and he shouldn't have to. With Katze at his side he felt that the normal tasks of cooking, cleaning and daily habits of those that wished to survive weren't of concern to him. Like Amoi those were things he simply didn't and shouldn't have to do. Even with Katze toting to his every whim the constant urges around him and lack of the comforts that were Amoi made him begin to realize that Bending was the necessity. His first item would not be food but something familiar to him. Iason still had trouble accepting that it was himself that did not will him to return home. Otherwise he would've simply left. After all, what could stop the great Iason Mink but himself?

It would be a full month before Iason Mink even considered to leave his room and even then he didn't leave the confines of the Northern Welcome House until Lelouch, someone far below him on the Elite scale in his mind, opened his eyes to possibilities and intrigue. It was someone of like mind with his own intelligence and consideration and yet somehow not a Blondie that made Iason walk out the front door. Bending came easy to him once he began creating and mostly replicating.

As the months passed Iason started to see those around him more for who they were, even those that had treated him harshly on his first post for simply being himself, and less on their hair color. He started forming relationships that were more than mere acquaintances. Even in his home world he had stayed mostly to himself. Lelouch with his similarities was only natural but Wheatley with his differences had also became someone Iason wished to see weekly if not daily. Yet what held Iason Mink back the most was here in Nautilus he could not figure out his purpose or even the basic reasoning of why he had answered Nautilus' call.

His first reality storm pushed him forward out of his comfort zone but even so he had remained relatively the same and with the advice of Lelouch he chose to remain not involved with the city within the safety of Helix. The Bonds reality storm was the first real push in the right direction. He had learned more about Lelouch than he cared to forcing him to subconsciously linger closer to the other as his brother. Great respect and admiration had been shown in the beginning towards the man that was now becoming closer to being someone he could trust even with a lot already on the Ashura's plate. Even the young Nunally who he had considered a child, lost and lonely, showed strength and determination beyond a normal Elite. Zoro, caught also in the Bond reality storm, was a talent he could recognize easily as a prized swordsman. The man had been forced to become his servant and bodyguard. Many times he had forced the other to either kneel before him or endure his relentless demands. Still, the other did not break. While this dangerously reminded him of home Iason had not pursued the other like he normally would have at home when the reality storm break. Even Ace who was more of a hateship than anything else was someone of interest. Usually types like this that remained mongrels did not concern the Blondie but Ace's stories often left him wanting more. Stories that usually would not breach or interest a mind like Iason's made him want to experience at times the worst of things.

Even with this steady stream of acceptances, disapproval and judging it was common that Iason was always observing. His obsession with bending and knowing why he decided to come to Nautilus only continued to grow. It was the usual want and need that fueled Iason's ambition. A part of him wished to regain the power he once had but the majority of surpassing Nautilus itself became his main focus. To exceed the impossible was something he could not achieve at home. No one would ever expect that a mere Deva in a form of a cat could prompt Iason to take an unexpected leap forward in his wish to the literal point of leaping across wide gaps between buildings. Calex had prompted something deep within Iason. Unable to sit idly by with something so solid in his grasp he continued to practice until he was able to push his own body past its normal boundaries.

The unknown hit Iason hard a few weeks later when he still found himself powerless to do anything besides sit and wait for the next event in Nautilus to pass by. Even as he moped and brooded the Blondie desired to go home. His inability to surpass his own thoughts and simplicity pushed him further towards seeking his own future. Thankfully Katze's interference kept the other from returning completely. The redhead would reveal Iason's future and death to the Blondie. He did not fear death in hearing those words just as he wouldn't if he returned home. Returning home meant changing for the worse but staying in Nautilus could change him for the better. For some reason he could not understand Katze's words held value in his mind. More and more Iason desired to protect what was his own. Katze had become something more constant in his life than his servant or Ex-Furniture. He had become something he likely couldn't live without that is without dire consequences. The other had yet to fully Bend something remarkable to even to protect himself and so Iason began to train his own body and Bending to suit a more dire need.

A new arrival known as Loki became another contributing factor to Iason's mentality and ambition. He had yet to know his own purpose in arriving in Nautilus even though Iason had been in the city for over a full year. It was only when the other mentioned the dullness of a situation and the lack of being able to shape his own future any further did Iason realize that the reason he had answered Nautilus' call was that he had grown bored of a routine situation. At home he wasn't missed nor cared about. Here in Nautilus there was at least a small handful that cared for his well being.

Iason had never really cared for much physical contact except for that of those he trusted. Blondies were always cared for even if covered from head to toe in some sort of material. Still he wished to learn and listen to the advice around him. The challenge he accepted was one that was unusual to him. To be able to gift something to someone without a need for a return or without a reason gave him much pause. Zoro naturally was his victim to the situation even if it was rejected. Turning a blind eye he ignored it completely when it had failed. He had almost fallen onto old pretenses. Given that it was easier for a Blondie to destroy than create he began to Unmake things around him with fueled willpower. Strangely it was a little easier to him than he had heard it would be. He couldn't understand how something so simple could be rejected so easily. 'Things will never change' he thought that is until the unexpected transformation into a horse allowed him to get closer to many he hadn't before. Without his usual appearance he found himself able to touch and assist others in simpler ways. After his return to his usual form he found himself contemplating returning to that figure even if it was a mild hindrance.

Surprised to Zoro's request of him after repeated amounts of rejection and being ignored made Iason curious if he could actually interact with someone normally. It was not acceptance that he wanted. That was not something Iason ever desired. Iason began to understand a reason for staying in Nautilus and his ambition and 'dream' as Ace had called it began to take fruit more clearer than before.

Iason wished to surpass Nautilus and would by any means necessary. With Calex always opening new possibilities in his mind such as Unmaking, he would study and learn what best suited him. Except this time it wasn't simply to excel or gain power. He wanted to protect what was his and the city he lived in. He would have that chance when Ursaems practically made war with the entirety of Nautilus' existence. Katze was no longer around due to going back to Sleep and he had nothing but himself to overpower and no one but himself to take care of his needs. Unlike the usual rage and compliance that usually came with betrayal he did not have time to linger on it for long.

Working together with the team responsible for making the 'distraction' the group of intelligent minds allowed him to form bonds with those he preferred to talk to but strangely the oddness of Crocker, the strange form of Scrupilo along with the irritating habits of Lucas didn't seem to be at the forefront of his mind.

Capable of great things and excelling in Unmaking he joined forces and stood at the center of the battlefield with several teams working together for one goal. Not for himself but for the city.
